I recently decided to change the grips on my clubs. While I didn't plan on changing my putter grip, I saw one in the store that caught my eye and thought it might be worth a try. It was the Winn Grip J8WS, a Jumbo Grip.

Why the Change
My entire golf career I have struggled with putting and was looking for a change. I have never had a Jumbo Grip before and thought "why not give it a try?", so I did. I have only used it for 1.5 rounds but I already feel a difference. The first change is confidence. Any time I'm struggling with something, I look to make a change. I did a little research and figured making a switch might help me out.
Second, I spoke to a guy who knows the game and studies the technical aspects of it. He explained to me the idea behind the "Jumbo Grip" is to take your hands out of the equation. It allows for a smoother stroke. So far I have to agree but as mentioned it's only been a couple of rounds.
Is There a Big Difference
Yes. Although the photo's below might not do it justice, there is a significant difference in size and feel.

As you can see, I left one of my putters (The Hockey Stick Putter) with its original grip. I did this so I can actually compare and inform you on the difference in feel. The most immediate difference is how soft the jumbo grip is. I feel like I'm not gripping the putter as strongly which creates less tension in my forearms and wrists. It's very comfortable and allows me to use a "pendulum" like motion a little easier. I feel much more relaxed and feel like the club does the work.

What WAM Thinks
After 27 holes it would be unfair of me to say this is the best thing in the world. What I will say is this: I have been struggling with my putting and when I switched, noticed an immediate difference. Did I still miss putts? Of course, I'm a terrible putter but it would be wrong of me to blame my equipment (or would it?). Do I feel better on the greens with this? Yes, I'm much more comfortable with this in my hands and feel like a new golfer. I'm more confident with my lag putts and noticed a significant difference in my short putting.
If you have two putters or an old one laying around, maybe try it out on that first. I'm more a risk taker and decided it was time for a drastic (ok, I'm being a bit dramatic) change. I'll be sure to let you know if I feel the same way at the end of the season as I do now.
What is it: Winn Grips J8WS Jumbo Pistol Grip
Cost: This cost me $10.99. I installed it myself but it only cost about $3.00 if you want them to do it.
Where to buy it: You can buy Winn Grips just about anywhere that sells grips. Call ahead to see if it's in stock. I got mine at Dicks Sporting Goods and they were very helpful.
Website: Winn Grips
Notes: Winn Grips did not endorse this post. It's my opinion after buying a product and I wanted to share it with you. I'll be sharing my thoughts on my new grips once I use them more. Hopefully I'll be playing more golf in the weeks to come!

Any thoughts on the reverse hyperextension and it's carryover into the deadlift?I will say this, close grip benching had a detrimental effect on my ring dips, which leads me to believe that both movements would be beneficial for the Press.
