In my previous Fix Your Golf Swing Post, I provided information about a website where you can have your swing analyzed by PGA Director of Instruction, Brant Kasbohm. He is the founder of fixyourgame.com. In part two, I'm going to show you the result of me submitting my video for analysis. Based on how I played yesterday, this might be coming at the perfect time for me.
The Analysis
I'll be the first to admit, it's a little scary seeing your swing if you have not done this before. You have a vision in your mind of what your swing looks like and you may (or may not) want to keep it that way. The only way to get better is to try not only new things, but the right things.
Once I submitted my video and filled out the questionnaire, I received a prompt e-mail saying my video has been received and I will receive a custom lesson report within 48 hours. I think I had it back within 24 hours so they certainly kept their word.
A link to the video via YouTube was sent to me along with a copy I can download. If you don't want it on YouTube just ask and they remove it but it makes viewing very easy. Here is my custom lesson report:
For those of you not sure, my swing is the less attractive one on the left. As you see in the video, Brant not only explains what I need to work on but also demonstrates this so I can see it as well. The side by side analysis allows me to see what I'm doing and see what I should be doing.
Brant doesn't waste any time. He goes into a couple of things I need to work on including spine angle and ball placement. I know I need to work on where the ball should be placed in my stance but I had no idea about spine angle. Already, I learned something new.
Do I Only Get a Video?
No. Inside the e-mail Brant sends are a few paragraphs explaining what I can work on. He also points out anything I do well. Unfortunately, he told me to stick to hockey... just kidding. In this case he complimented my grip, one less thing I need to work on!
It's written in an easy to understand way. This is an excerpt from Brant's e-mail to me:
"1.
Ball position--It appears that your ball position is too far forward in
your stance. It looks even with your left foot with the driver, and
slightly back of that with your 7-iron. With both clubs (and all clubs
for that matter) your ball position should be about two inches behind
your left heel. This forward ball position is a major contributor to a
hook ball flight."
Easy to understand and straight to the point.
This Is About You
We should remember, this is about us. When I filled out the questionnaire I told Brant I wanted to work on spinning the ball or at least getting it to stop. Her made sure to comment on this and let me know what I can to do make this happen. If you want to know how to do something ask and I'm sure Brant will be happy to answer.
What WAM Thinks
What I like about this most is I have it forever. I have taken lessons in the past but I have never been given the video so I can see it whenever I want. Now, I can video myself in a few months and see if I have corrected anything (although I'll probably pay the $19.95 and send it to Brant). I can go back to the video and see if there is something I missed or something else my pro says I should be doing. It's very helpful to have on file.
Fixyourgame.com has made getting a lesson from a PGA Professional easy, cheap and quick. If you already go to the driving range have someone shoot a video of you and your done. It's that easy. As technology advances and improves the game of golf, I believe this is the next logical step. You can now get a lesson from anywhere in the world just by submitting a video. Within 48 hours, I know what I'm doing wrong and how to fix it.
Notes: Thanks to Brant and fixyourgame.com for the analysis. In my next post we will be starting a contest for someone to win a Free Lesson courtesy of Fixyourgame.com. That's right a FREE GOLF LESSON!
Disclaimer: Brant and Fixyourgame.com provided me with a free lesson so I could review it. As always, the opinions I express are my own and strictly how I feel about whatever it is I'm reviewing.

Great stuff!!!! Maybe I will send him my swing and ask him how I can put less pressure on my lower back.
