I recently had a birthday last month and was fortunate enough to receive a lot of awesome gifts (thank you to everyone). You've seen some of the clips taken with the Flip Camera and I'm looking forward to using that more on the sight once I figure out the best way.
One of the other great gifts I got was a dozen personalized Titleist Pro V1 golf balls. With Fathers Day rapidly approaching I'll do a few posts listing some ideas to help you get the golfer in your life the perfect gift.
Personalized Golf Balls
(Titleist Pro V1 Golf Balls)
I should put a disclaimer in here that I do not like Pro V1's. I have used them twice prior to this (both times they were free) and I never seem play well when I use them. Maybe it's because each time I swing I'm thinking about the $5 I'm about to hit but in reality, I'm sure it's a mental thing.
That being said, it's an awesome gift and they game out great!
(A sleeve of 3 Personalized Pro V1's. You can see the personalization through the viewing window)
It's pretty cool to open up a package and see some a box of Pro V1 golf balls with your blog name on them. It's extremely thoughtful and allowed me to not have to mark my golf balls. I have never ordered personalized golf balls so I asked my girlfriend, who got them for me, to give me some details about the process and the cost.... something I don't recommend asking about when people give you gifts. She was kind enough to share some insight. Below are her exact words on the process:
Where to Order this Gift
"I placed the
order online through Golf Galaxy's ball Personalization page:
http://www.golfgalaxy.com/galaxy/dept.asp?dept_id=208. The process
was very straightforward and user friendly. They listed
the types of Golf Balls that were available for personalization and I
was able to view what the final product would look like with the
desired message (of course with a disclaimer that it may appear
different than the actual results.)"
Happy With the Product?
"Skipping ahead to when I received the product, I was happy with the outcome, it appeared as it did on the screen for the most part, however, I was a disappointed with the size of the text, I wanted the message to "pop" more. Something to keep in mind. Also, I would have changed my message from "WAM GOLF" to "WAMGolf.com" if I had known the text would have been as small as it was...in other words, there was room for more words."
Price:
"Price: Well, they give a variety of different Golf Ball brands with different prices ranging from ($19.99 -$45.99 - I believe). There are also some deals going on for free personalization with the purchase of a particular ball brand (right now there are many Father's Day Deals.) It happened that particular one I was looking for (Callaway HX Bite) was not available for personalization at the time, so I went with the one that I thought was highest quality.
Sub total $45.99
Shipping Total $4.99
Handling Total $0.00
Tax Total $3.76
Total Spent $54.74"
Delivery
"Since this was a birthday gift, I was concerned with the date of arrival. I placed the order on May 16th and it arrived on June 1st. To be fair, there was the Memorial Holiday thrown in there to slow things down, but according to the attached email from Customer Service, it wouldn't have arrived in time for when I would have liked it (Wednesday May 26th or even Thursday or Friday of that week would have been great). After 6 days of not even receiving note that my order was processed, I emailed customer service on a Sunday and was emailed back the next day saying that it wouldn't be sent till late the following week. I cant remember if I was given the option of a rush order or express shipment, I really dont think there was a choice. The moral of the story is that you need to act in advance and place your order."
The end result:

What WAM Thinks
I think personalized golf balls are a great gift. I asked AJ why she went with Pro V1's and her response was they are the best. Clearly Titleist is doing a great job with their marketing. She did remember I played Taylormade golf balls and said those were not available for personalization.
Any time I receive something personalized I think it's a great gift. A friend of mine received this from his daughter and I thought it was a great gift. It shows a lot of thought went into it. It sounds like the process was easy (I can't speak to it personally as I didn't go through it) and the end result was good. If you can get this done on time, it might be the cure for the perfect Fathers Day Gift.

Notes: Thanks AJ for letting us in on the process and telling us the price. I was not contacted by Titleist or Golf Galaxy to write about this. It's something I received and wanted to share. If you know what ball the person is playing it makes sense to go with that. Thanks again for a great gift and I hope this helps!

One of the best cheap wines of all-time was Benziger's fume blanc, which appeared in the $10 Hall of Fame in its early years. But the wine hasn't been around the Dallas area much lately, and a Benziger spokeswoman said it wasn't being distributed nationally any more.

Fathers who are really inclined to golf will surely love this as a gift. Those are kinda affordable as well.
