They say there's an app for everything on the iPhone, and golfing is no exception. These five represent a variety of apps that will help you enhance your game, improve your performance, and have fun while you're at it. All you'll have to do is concentrate on perfecting your swing.
#1- The Rules of Golf- $3.99- Ever been unsure of the exact rules of the game, or had a dispute over whether or not that ball is really "lost?" The Rules of Golf can quickly and easily solve any problems regarding the rules of the game. An included search function and index make it easy to find the information you're looking for. This app is the only one to be officially approved by the USGA, so you can be sure it's accurate. This app is obviously a very handy recourse to have around.
#2- Quick Caddy- $0.99- Quick Caddy is the perfect assistant for all those tricky shots. By inputting information about a variety of playing conditions, such as wind, distance, or even age or gender, this app can select the perfect club for the occasion. It doesn't even require an internet connection! Quick Caddy is a great way to get solid advice on the proper technique for any situation.
#3- GL Golf- $4.99- Sometimes you just can't make it to the range, but you've got to get in a quick game of golf. GL Golf makes that easy. This golfing game has realistic physics, simple but fun graphics, and a solid six courses. Just like real golf, it's got a wide variety of sand traps, trees, wind conditions and more. GL Golf even has a multiplayer option, supporting up to four players.
#4- Where To Golf- $1.99- No matter where you are, Where To Golf can help you find a course to play. With a database of over 22,000 courses in Canada and the US, it makes it easy to find a place to play, whether by searching ZIP codes or using your GPS location. There's also a ton of useful information, such as prices, local weather, reviews and more. You can even book your tee time by using the included phone number or website for each course.
#5- Golfshot: Golf GPS- $29.99- While Golfshot may be a bit expensive, it's certainly worth it for it's versatility and usefulness. This app uses your GPS as a rangefinder, giving you your precise range to the hole or other important areas of the course. Combined with satellite views of the course, it's easy to see where you're going, and how to get there. Golfshot has over 33,000 courses mapped. If your iPhone doesn't have a GPS feature, you can still manually select your location to find your range. Golfshot also includes a scorecard function that can automatically tally the scores of up to four players, and even generate statistics and graphs for your games, allowing you to easily track and compare your scores as compared to past games or your friends.

Really appreciated this post. I am a huge Iphone fan, I've had one for almost a year now. I've downloaded all sorts of apps from stocks charts to flight trackers. I've been looking for a list of golf apps, specifically GPS ones. Your post has made me decide to buy the Golf Shot GPS app mentioned in your article.
I plan on using it my next round and would love to write an review of the app for WAM Golf after using it a few times.
Thanks for the list!

I have an iphone and obviously love apps, but it can sometimes be hard to find good quality ones - I just find there are SOOOO many to trawl through on any half popular subject it's just impossible. So, again, thanks to people like you who can help weed through the crap!
