Looking for a the perfect gift to give your hockey fan who also golfs? Look no further than the Hockey Stick Golf Putter.
What is it?
I thought it was the solution to my putting struggles but I think that's something I need to actually solve with practice and therapy... lots of therapy. When I get on the dance floor with a putter in my hand, I panic. I have had rounds with 30 putts and I have had rounds with 47 (that's not a typo) putts. My average is 32 putts per round.
I put the Ping Ti3 away and reached for this.
A Christmas gift from my mother who knows my passion for both golf and hockey, I decided I would give it a try. It's legal to use and is weighted heavily at the bottom. It works better at municipal courses where the greens are slower than it does at a country club that has some speed to it. Again, this could just be my ability.
The Shaft
The shaft is made from a composite hockey stick. Same feel and material. It has the logo and name of whatever NHL team you like. Above is the Montreal Canadiens putter but I have seen the New York Rangers putter which is blue.
You can also see the head cover in the picture.
The Face of the Putter
As I mentioned above, the face of the putter is flat so it works for a lefty or a righty. I'm a righty but have had some rounds where I tried a few putts lefty to see if that was my problem... maybe I'm a lefty. No, I'm not. I'm just not good at putting. Here's the putter face:
It looks like the blade of a hockey stick. Here's the bottom (some clever marketing!):
That's the website to buy it. You can also see the width of the blade.
The Grip
The grip is pretty standard and is exactly what you would expect on a putter. If anything, you might say it's a little thinner but you can always change it if you want. See below:
It's standard and a little smaller than the shaft of of the putter.
Overall Review
If you're a serious golfer and looking to shave strokes off your game, I'd look for a Scotty Cameron instead of this. If you're looking to have some fun and support your favorite NHL team, this is the way to go. I have had people stop me every time I use it and ask. I even had the pro at one club make an announcement over the loud speaker that "slapshots are not permitted on the green", he then came out and used it for a couple of putts.
It's a fun gift at a golf outing or to put in your office to strike up a conversation. The cost is $115 and can be found at www.hockeystickputters.com.
I look forward to your comments!
*Note: I don't work for, endorse or earn any commission on this. It's a product I own and thought it would be interesting to write about.

The last thing one discovers in composing a work is what to put first. Do you agree?
